EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE GENERATION OF HIGH-ENERGY NOISE-LIKE PULSES AND THEIR APPLICATION TO SUPERCONTINUUM GENERATION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
"In this research work we obtained experimentally very wide and flattened supercontinuum (SC) spectra using noise-like pulses (NLPs) as pump in standard single-mode fiber (SMF, non-zero dispersion at 1550 nm, low nonlinear coefficient).

Generation and characterization of erbium-Raman noise-like pulses from a figure-eight fibre laser

open access: yes, 2021
We report an experimental study of the noise-like pulses generated by a ~300 m long passively mode-locked erbium-doped figure-eight fibre laser. Non-self-starting mode locking yields the formation of ns scale bunches of sub-ps pulses.

Automatized System with Predictive NN Applied for Precise Control of Self-Starting, Controllable Harmonic and High Flatness Supercontinuum Generation in Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Laser

open access: yesPhotonics
We present the integration of an automated polarization control system into a figure-eight fiber laser with the aim of self-tuning noise-like pulses (NLPs).

Q-Switched High-Order Harmonic Mode-Locked Noise-like Pulses in an Erbium/Ytterbium Fiber Laser

open access: yesPhotonics
This work presents, to the best of our knowledge, the first experimental report of an erbium/ytterbium double-clad ring fiber laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) operating in a self-starting Q-switched high-order harmonic mode locking ...

Removing the Influence of Shimmer in the Calculation of Harmonics-To-Noise Ratios Using Ensemble-Averages in Voice Signals

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2009
Harmonics-to-noise ratios (HNRs) are affected by general aperiodicity in voiced speech signals. To specifically reflect a signal-to-additive-noise ratio, the measurement should be insensitive to other periodicity perturbations, like jitter, shimmer, and ...

Aversiveness of sound in marine mammals : psycho-physiological basis, behavioural correlates and potential applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Understanding what psycho-physiological and behavioural factors influence aversiveness of sound in marine mammals is important for conservation and practical applications.

Influence of Gaussian noise and Levy noise on the phase dynamics of the ensemble of Kuramoto-like oscillators of first and second order [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Прикладная нелинейная динамика
The purpose of this study is to determine the stability threshold of the dynamic modes of the ensemble of phase Kuramoto-like oscillators, describing the behavior of a simple power grid model with a ring topology, under the external influence of Gaussian

Numerical study on nonlinear and chaotic effects in standard fibre using RK4IP method

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
In this paper, we carry out a numerical study on nonlinear and chaotic effects produced by the propagation of hyperbolic secant optical pulse in standard fibre.

Impact of spectral filtering in coexistence of noise-like pulse and dissipative soliton

open access: yesAPL Photonics
With the introduction of the Lyot–Sagnac filter, the laser enables the coexistence of noise-like pulse (NLP) and dissipative soliton (DS) outputs with switchable wavelength intervals, which is observed for the first time. A simulation model of a ytterbium-doped mode-locked fiber laser is also constructed, and the filtering effect is found to play an ...
