Noise Reduction by Barriers [PDF]
A literature review is prepared to summarize the present state of knowledge concerning the field performance of barriers, with particular reference to screen-type barriers on finite impedance ground, to barriers of finite thickness, to right-angle wedges, to multiple barriers, and to effects of wind.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Noise reduction algorithm for glueball correlators
We present an error reduction method for obtaining glueball correlators from Monte Carlo simulations of SU(3) lattice gauge theory. We explore the scalar and tensor channels at three different lattice spacings.

Noise reduction mechanisms of sawtooth and combed-sawtooth trailing-edge serrations
Trailing-edge serrations are add ons retrofitted to wind-turbine blades to mitigate turbulent boundary-layer trailing-edge noise. This manuscript studies the physical mechanisms behind the noise reduction by investigating the far-field noise and the ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Label Noise Reduction in Entity Typing by Heterogeneous Partial-Label Embedding [PDF]
Current systems of fine-grained entity typing use distant supervision in conjunction with existing knowledge bases to assign categories (type labels) to entity mentions.

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Recent studies have shown that activating the noise reduction scheme in hearing aids results in a smaller peak pupil dilation (PPD), indicating reduced listening effort, at 50% and 95% correct sentence recognition with a 4‐talker masker. The objective of

This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Noise reduction on mammographic phantom images
A noise reduction scheme on digitized mammographic phantom images is presented. This algorithm is based on a direct contrast modification method with an optimal function, obtained by using the mean squared error as a criterion.
