Investigating the metabolism of non-aureus staphylococci relevant to prosthetic joint infection
Prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a complication of joint replacement that occurs when bacteria adhere to the surface of a prosthetic joint and form a biofilm (Becker et al. 2014; Tande et al. 2014). Treatment is expensive and aggressive, constituting a major burden to the healthcare system and to the patients (Becker et al. 2014; Tande et al. 2014).

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

Coaxial ZnO@CuO nanofibers activated by visible light generate ROS through enhanced photocatalytic reactions driven by improved electron hole separation in the heterojunction. This strategy enables rapid antimicrobial activity and early infection control, thereby promoting the healing of MRSA infected and diabetic wounds with biosafe and easily ...

This study introduces a multifunctional hydrogel coating (Lap‐CMCSMA/GelMA@SeNPs) that scavenges ROS, modulates immune responses, and shows strong antibacterial activity. It effectively restores the peri‐implant microenvironment. The coating exhibits excellent biocompatibility and promotes osteogenic differentiation.

CRISPR‐FLEXMO (CRISPR with flexible PAM in MOF encapsulation) integrates a PAM‐relaxed Cas12a K607R enzyme with a manganese‐coordinated MOF for broad‐spectrum diagnosis of bacterial sepsis. The MOF enhances activity and preserves functionality under heat, solvent, and chaotropic stress, supporting long‐term room‐temperature storage.

Precise modulation of reaction pathways remains an unresolved challenge in peroxymonosulfate‐activated advanced oxidation processes. The spatial preorganization strategy in engineered confinement architecture enables regioselective bond cleavage in monoethanolamine via synergistic proton–electron transfer, redirecting its degradation from nonselective ...
