Adiponectin, non-esterified fatty acids and antiphospholipid antibodies in type II diabetes mellitus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2012
The importance of the association of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL Abs) with the features of type II diabetes mellitus has not yet been elucidated. The aim of this work was to investigate the association of aPL Abs with adiponectin and non-esterified ...

Extracellular Vesicle‐Transferred ATP‐Citrate Lyase Induces Monocyte Differentiation Toward Tumor‐Associated Macrophages and Fuels Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) enrich the metabolic enzyme ATP‐citrate lyase (ACLY). EV‐transferred ACLY enhances palmitate biosynthesis, increases the S‐palmitoylation and stability of multiple immune checkpoint proteins, augments the cellular immunosuppressive activity, and ultimately accelerates the malignant ...

Lipoic Acid‐Intervened Decellularized Stem Cell Spheroid‐Based Injectable Granular Gel for Diabetic Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advancements in tissue engineering have revolutionized therapeutic paradigms for diabetic tissue defects; however, the lack of applicable scaffold containing various bioactive substance aggregates remained a critical bottleneck hindering satisfactory repair effect.

UC Davis - Non-Esterified Fatty Acids Protocol v1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Summary: The Wako enzymatic method relies upon the acylation of coenzyme A (CoA) by the fatty acids in the presence of added acyl-CoA synthetase (ACS). The acyl-CoA thus produced is oxidized by added acyl- CoA oxidase (ACOD) with generation of hydrogen peroxide, in the presence of peroxidase (POD) permits the oxidative condensation of 3-methy-N-ethyl-N(

Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

The Emerging Parkinson's Disease Oxylipin‐Ome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Parkinson Disease (PD) is increasingly considered a proteinopathy and lipidopathy. This proteinopathy+lipidopathy paradigm has been further refined to a fatty acid (FA)‐opathy, centering dysregulated FA metabolism as fundamental in PD lipid dysfunction.

Albumin‐Bound STING Agonist Reprograms HSPCs to Antitumor Neutrophils Enhancing CD8+ T Cell Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that an albumin‐bound STING agonist (Nano ZSA‐51D) reprograms HSPCs to produce antitumor neutrophils with enhanced MHC I–mediated CD8+ T cell activation, thereby sensitizing tumors to α‐PD1 therapy. These findings highlight a strategy to target early hematopoiesis for shaping neutrophil fate and potentiating cancer immunotherapy.

Oxylipins in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins of dyslipidemic subjects promote endothelial inflammation following a high fat meal. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Elevated triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TGRL) in circulation is a risk factor for atherosclerosis. TGRL from subjects consuming a high saturated fat test meal elicited a variable inflammatory response in TNFα-stimulated endothelial cells (EC) that ...

Biolipid Film‐Fused Electrochemiluminescence for Multipurpose In Situ Bioassays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ECL‐emissive, membrane‐interactive scaffold was fabricated, and facilely fused with natural and non‐native phospholipids into multifactorial mimicries of cytomembranes and vesicles for in vitro representative membrane‐process probing. Such a biointerface‐based, state‐sensitive ECL paradigm not only pinpointed proximal phenomena, including channeling
