Lipid, fatty acid and protein utilization during lecithotrophic larval development of Lithodes santolla (Molina) and Paralomis granulosa (Jacquinot) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
During the larval development of the subantarctic king crab, Lithodes santolla, and stone crab, Paralomis granulosa, we compared changes in the carbon, fatty acid and protein contents of larvae reared under constant conditions from hatching to ...

Engineering Oncolytic Virus‐Armed Macrophages for Enhanced Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZIFOA‐M is engineered by conjugating oncolytic adenovirus‐loaded ZIF‐8 nanoparticles onto macrophage surfaces via bioorthogonal chemistry. Upon tumor infiltration, the platform releases OA to downregulate CD47/CD24 on tumor cells, restoring macrophage phagocytosis.

Influence of non-esterified fatty acids on respiratory control of reconstituted cytochrome-c oxidase

open access: yes, 1989
Bovine heart cytochrome-c oxidase was reconstituted in liposomes (asolectin) and the activity measured in the presence and absence of uncoupler at increasing concentrations of non-esterified fatty acids.

Biosynthesis of Sciadonic Acid Derived from Gymnosperms with Anti‐Colitis Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an efficient Yarrowia lipolytica platform for unusual sciadonic acid (SCA) production and assess the anti‐colitis efficacy in mice of SCA, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic lipid. ABSTRACT Sciadonic acid (SCA), Δ5‐unsaturated fatty acid with anti‐inflammatory and lipid‐regulatory properties, is predominantly derived

CK2α Deficiency Drives Myocardial Fibrosis via Desmin‐Induced Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CK2α preserves mitochondrial homeostasis by phosphorylating Desmin to recruit Cryab, ensuring proper filament assembly. CK2α deficiency disrupts this interaction, causing mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolic shifts, bioenergetic failure, and oxidative stress—ultimately establishing a pro‐fibrotic environment that drives cardiac fibrosis.

Lighting up Macrophage Reprogramming Assists Immunosuppressive Niche Modulation in Primary Tumors and Tumor‐Draining Lymph Nodes of Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops an intelligent NIR‐II‐responsive nanoplatform to combat immunosuppression in breast cancer. It enables real‐time visualization of macrophage activity via “off‐on” fluorescence while simultaneously reprogramming macrophages through the CSF‐1R and CD47‐SIRPα pathways.

Effect of Tolbutamide (Orinase) on Plasma Non-Esterified Fatty Acids

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1957
SummaryTolbutamide (Orinase), given intravenously to normal and diabetic patients caused a reduction of non-esterified fatty acid concentration only in those subjects who responded with hypoglycemia. Diabetics responding to tolbutamide with a prolonged depression of blood sugar showed a comparably sustained reduction of the fatty acid fraction.

Adiponectin, non-esterified fatty acids and antiphospholipid antibodies in type II diabetes mellitus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2012
The importance of the association of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL Abs) with the features of type II diabetes mellitus has not yet been elucidated. The aim of this work was to investigate the association of aPL Abs with adiponectin and non-esterified ...
