Naturally occurring workplace facilities to increase the leisure time physical activity of workers: A propensity-score weighted population study

open access: yesPreventive Medicine Reports, 2018
The benefit of providing access to physical activity facilities at or near work to support the leisure time physical activity (LTPA) of workers is uncertain.

The Influence of Compensation, Non-Physical Work Environment, and Work–Life Balance on Employee Loyalty

open access: yesGolden Ratio of Data in Summary
This study examines the influence of compensation, non-physical work environment, and work–life balance on team member loyalty at PT: Pancar Surya Mandiri Perkasa, a private security services company based in South Tangerang. Adopting a quantitative explanatory approach, the research involved 48 employees selected through a saturated sampling technique,

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

The Physical Work Environment in relation to the Physical and Psychological Symptoms of Sick Building Syndrome

open access: yes, 2011
This study investigated the relationship between perceptions of a poor physical work environment (PWE) and sick building syndrome (SBS), and with various psychological variables that impact organizational productivity.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Effects Of Non-Physical Work Environment, Motivation And Compensation On Employee Turnover

open access: yesInternational Journal of Marketing & Human Resource Research
This study aims to analyze the effect of non-physical work environment, motivation, and compensation on employee turnover in service companies. The research was conducted at PT Permodalan with a quantitative approach and descriptive verification method. The research sample amounted to 35 respondents who were taken with saturated sample technique.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Eating and shift work – effects on habits, metabolism and performance

open access: yes, 2010
Compared to individuals who work during the day, shift workers are at higher risk of a range of metabolic disorders and diseases (eg, obesity, cardiovascular disease, peptic ulcers, gastrointestinal problems, failure to control blood sugar levels, and ...

Work extraction from quantum coherence in non-equilibrium environment

open access: yesScientific Reports
Ergotropy, which represents the maximum amount of work that can be extracted from a quantum system, has become a focal point of interest in the fields of quantum thermodynamics and information processing.
