Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Multiaxial Low Cycle Fatigue of 1070Aluminum under Stress Controlled Non-proportional Loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes the low cycle fatigue life of 1070 aluminum under stress controlled multiaxial loading. Proportional loading tests were carried out under combined push-pull and reversed torsion.

Biaxial Testing of Thin Metal Sheets under Non-Proportional Loading Conditions

open access: yesMetals
During the manufacturing and service of thin metal sheets, different stress states occur, often caused by non-proportional loading conditions. They can lead to localization of inelastic deformations as well as to damage and failure processes.

Taking into account the non-proportional loading effect on high cycle fatigue life predictions obtained by invariant-based approaches [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Industrial structures are often subjected to multiaxial fatigue loadings. If the multiple stress signals are not synced the loading is said to be non-proportional.

Semi – automatic approach for the creation of non - proportional load paths

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Many industrial sheet metal parts experience a non – proportional loading history. The determination of such non – proportional loading paths on a laboratory scale is still very challenging and time - consuming. Most tests require different machines, tools and measurement techniques.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Modeling of crack propagation in ductile materials under cyclic, proportional and non-proportional loading conditions

open access: yes
The paper addresses the numerical calculation of multi-axial fatigue crack propagation in ductile materials under proportional and non-proportional cyclic loading conditions. The analysis is based on a phase field fracture theory proposed in earlier work,

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
