This paper discusses new experiments with the X0-specimen taken from steel sheets and numerical simulations to investigate the influence of proportional and non-proportional loading on damage and failure processes in the moderate stress state regime. The

Effect of phase angle on the cyclic behavior of AISI 410 alloy [PDF]
Multiaxial strain-controlled fatigue tests were conducted on AISI 410 according to ASTM 2207-E08 [1] under proportional (phase angle, θ = 90°) and non-proportional (phase angle, θ = 90º) loadings.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

On fracture loci of ductile materials under non-proportional loading [PDF]
Abstract For general stress states the fracture locus, under strictly proportional loadings, may be viewed as a two dimensional surface. Deviations from that locus under non-proportional loadings have received limited attention in the literature. The general problem is quite complex because of unavoidably intertwined history effects on both damage ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Fatigue strength of welded joints under multiaxial non-proportional loading
Abstract Fatigue behaviour of a fillet-welded tubular T-joint in the so-called H structural component of an agricultural sprayer is examined by using experimental strain measurements found in the literature and linear elastic finite element analyses.
