Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Biaxial Testing of Thin Metal Sheets under Non-Proportional Loading Conditions
During the manufacturing and service of thin metal sheets, different stress states occur, often caused by non-proportional loading conditions. They can lead to localization of inelastic deformations as well as to damage and failure processes.

Microscopic origin of granular ratcheting
Numerical simulations of assemblies of grains under cyclic loading exhibit ``granular ratcheting'': a small net deformation occurs with each cycle, leading to a linear accumulation of deformation with cycle number.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

A thermodynamically consistent cohesive damage model for the simulation of mixed-mode delamination [PDF]
This work is devoted to the formulation of a new cohesive model for mixed-mode delamination. The model is based on a thermodynamically consistent isotropic damage formulation, with consideration of an internal friction mechanism that governs

ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Creep fatigue life prediction for engine hot section materials (isotropic) [PDF]
A series of high temperature strain controlled fatigue tests have been completed to study the effects of thermomechanical fatigue, multiaxial loading, reactive environments, and imposed mean stresses. The baseline alloy used in these tests was cast B1900+

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

A critical issue in multiaxial damage calculation in non-proportional (NP) histories is to find the equivalent stress or strain ranges and mean components associated with each rainflow-counted cycle of the stress (or strain) path.

Finite element analysis of fretting crack propagation
In this work, the finite elements method (FEM) is used to analyse the growth of fretting cracks. FEM can be favourably used to extract the stress intensity factors in mixed mode, a typical situation for cracks growing in the vicinity of a fretting ...
