Stability criteria, atomization and non-thermal processes in liquids

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2008
Analyzing the first equation in the BBGKY chain of equations for an equilibrium liquid-gas system, we derived the analytical expression for the atom work function from liquid into gas. The coupling between the atom work function from liquid into vacuum and the stability criterion of liquid in limiting points of the first type was shown (using I.Z ...

New insights into the structure-based mechanism of Bacillus subtilis spore resistance to high hydrostatic pressure

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology
The exceptional pressure resistance of bacterial spores limits the application of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) in food sterilization, yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we examined how structural modifications (coat, cortex,

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Optimizing germination conditions for Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris spores, and achieving efficient inactivation via high hydrostatic pressure using a germination-inactivation strategy

open access: yesFood Innovation and Advances
The 'germination-inactivation' strategy can potentially eliminate Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris spores by exploiting the loss of their resistance that occurs during germination. However, the germination behavior of A.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Advances in the Effects of High-pressure Processing on Milk Quality: From Microbial Safety to Nutritional Enhancement

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
As an advanced non-thermal food-processing technology, high-pressure processing (HPP) is characterized by low processing temperatures and minimal nutritional loss, demonstrating unique advantages in maintaining food quality.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.
