Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Restriction of toral eigenfunctions to hypersurfaces and nodal sets [PDF]
We give uniform upper and lower bounds for the L^2 norm of the restriction of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on the three-dimensional standard flat torus to surfaces with non-vanishing curvature.

A default prior for regression coefficients
When the sample size is not too small, M-estimators of regression coefficients are approximately normal and unbiased. This leads to the familiar frequentist inference in terms of normality-based confidence intervals and p-values.

Non-uniform stability for bounded semi-groups on Banach spaces
Let S(t) be a bounded strongly continuous semi-group on a Banach space B and – A be its generator. We say that S(t) is semi-uniformly stable when S(t)(A + 1)−1 tends to 0 in operator norm. This notion of asymptotic stability is stronger than pointwise stability, but strictly weaker than uniform stability, and generalizes the known logarithmic ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Finite-state Strategies in Delay Games (full version)
What is a finite-state strategy in a delay game? We answer this surprisingly non-trivial question by presenting a very general framework that allows to remove delay: finite-state strategies exist for all winning conditions where the resulting delay-free ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Naked cuticle is essential for Drosophila wing development beyond Wingless signaling
Naked cuticle (Nkd), a Wnt signaling inhibitor, assumes extensive roles in Drosophila wing development. Overexpressing Nkd causes smaller, crumpled wings, while also perturbing multiple signaling pathways and developmental genes. A specific region (R1S) is critical for Nkd's function as a signaling integrator, offering new insights for studying its ...

Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...
