Nonlinear Rayleigh Quotients and Nonlinear Spectral Theory [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, 2019
We give a new and simplified definition of spectrumfor a nonlinear operator F acting in a real Banach space X, and study some of its features in terms of (qualitative and) quantitative properties of F such as the measure of noncompactness, α ( F ) , of F. Then, using as a main tool the Ekeland Variational Principle, we focus our attention on the

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Influence of Yield Strength Variability over Cross-Section to Steel Beam Load-Carrying Capacity

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2005
Authors of article analysed influence of variability of yield strength over cross-section of hot rolled steel member to its load-carrying capacity. In calculation models, the yield strength is usually taken as constant.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for a class of nonlinear fractional differential equations with mixed-type boundary value conditions

open access: yes, 2018
In this article, we study a class of nonlinear fractional differential equations with mixed-type boundary conditions. The fractional derivatives are involved in the nonlinear term and the boundary conditions. By using the properties of the Green function,

Nonlinear Absorptions

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1993
Let \(A\) be an \(m\)-completely accretive operator in \(L^ 1(\Omega)\), where \((\Omega,{\mathcal B},\mu)\) is a \(\sigma\)-finite measure space. Let \(j: \Omega\times\mathbb{R}\to [0,\infty]\) be measurable in \(x\in\Omega\), convex and lower semicontinuous in \(r\in\mathbb{R}\), with \(j(x,0)=0\).
