Adaptive Control of a Nonlinear System
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1982Abstract This paper presents a brief analysis of an electromagnetic suspension system with linear and nonlinear magnet force-distance chacteristics. This analysis is then used to develop a real-time adaptive control algorithm for single-degree of freedom suspension system with nonlinear force characteristics.

Control of nonlinear systems with friction
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 1999We introduce a continuous dynamic controller for a class of nonlinear systems which includes mechanical system models with a bristle model for nonlinear friction effects. We obtain sufficient conditions for global stabilization using an estimate for bristle defection and present experimental results illustrating the benefits of our dynamic controller ...

Global Controllability of Nonlinear Systems
SIAM Journal on Control, 1972This article deals with the controllability of nonlinear differential systems which arise when a linear system is perturbed. The sufficiency conditions presented insure that the nonlinear system will be (globally) controllable whenever its linear part is controllable. Moreover, the steering can be accomplished using continuous controls with arbitrarily

On norm-controllability of nonlinear systems
IEEE Conference on Decision and Control and European Control Conference, 2011In this paper, we introduce and study the notion of “norm-controllability” for nonlinear systems. This property captures the responsiveness of a system with respect to the applied inputs, which is quantified via the norm of an output map. As a main contribution, we obtain a Lyapunov-like sufficient condition for norm-controllability.

Controllability of Perturbed Nonlinear Systems
IMA Journal of Mathematical Control and Information, 1989Summary: Sufficient conditions for complete controllability of perturbed nonlinear systems with implicit derivative are given. The results are a generalization of the previous results of the author [IEE Proc., Part D 132, 14-17 (1985; Zbl 0554.93012)], \textit{G. Anchini, G. Conti} and \textit{P. Zecca} [Note Mat. 6, 99-111 (1986; Zbl 0612.93008)], and

Controllability of general nonlinear systems
Mathematical Systems Theory, 1978Consider the nonlinear system $$\dot x(t) = f(x(t)) + \sum\limits_{i = 1}^m {u_i (t)g_i (x(t)), x(0) = x_0 \in M}$$

Norm-Controllability of Nonlinear Systems
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2015In this paper, we introduce and study the notion of norm-controllability for nonlinear systems. This property captures the responsiveness of a system with respect to applied inputs, which is quantified via the norm of an output. As a main contribution, we obtain several Lyapunov-like sufficient conditions for norm-controllability, some of which are ...

A note on the controllability of nonlinear systems
Mathematical Systems Theory, 1984A question of the controllability of nonlinear systems is considered. On the basis of theorems due to \textit{L. M. Graves} [Duke Math. J. 17, 111- 114 (1950; Zbl 0037.204)] a new sufficient condition for local controllability is established.

Nonlinear learning control for a class of nonlinear systems
Automatica, 2001A nonlinear learning control scheme for asymptotic stabilization of a class of cascaded nonlinear systems is proposed. The direct Lyapunov method is one of the essential steps in the method. An illustrative example is provided.

Nonlinear damping control for interconnected nonlinear systems
2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015In this paper, we propose enhanced nonlinear damping control for a class of singularly perturbed interconnected nonlinear systems (SPINSs). The proposed method transforms SPINS into a feedback connection of two subsystems. Then, nonlinear damping is implemented to improve the transient behavior of slow subsystem.
