Nonlinear Optical Properties of Si Nanocrystals
MRS Proceedings, 2006ABSTRACTA systematic study of nonlinear optical properties of silicon nanocrystals (Si-nc) grown by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) is reported. Nonlinear optical refraction and absorption have been measured by z-scan technique at three different time regimes and at different wavelengths to investigate both the thermal and electronic ...

Nonlinear optical properties of functionalized DNA
Journal of Computational Methods in Sciences and Engineering, 2010Third-order nonlinear optical properties of functionalized deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are studied by optical third harmonic generation at 1 0642 nm fundamental wavelength. The studies were performed on thin films of DNA-CTMA and DNA-CTMA doped with a charge transfer molecules DR1 and with a cobalt phthalocyanine.

Photonic technologies operate by the optical processing and transmission of information and require a variety of materials with appropriate properties to facilitate the modulation of light. Polymers containing organic nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores allow the modulation of the phase, the state of polarization, and/or the frequency of light beams ...

This chapter deals mainly with harmonic generation and parametric interactions in anisotropic crystals. Section 1.7.2 describes second- and higher-order electric susceptibilities. Section 1.7.3 is devoted to propagation phenomena, particularly in the case of three-wave and four-wave interactions, to the conditions of phase matching and to resonant and ...

Resolution properties of nonlinear optical microscopy
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2010We analyze the resolution properties of nonlinear optical microscopy systems that use nonlinear optical effects, such as multiphoton-excited fluorescence, second- and third-harmonic generation, coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering, and stimulated-emission depletion.

Nonlinear optical properties of the rhombic B4-cluster
Journal of Computational Chemistry, 1999The equilibrium geometry, energy, dipole polarizability, and second hyperpolarizability of the rhombic B4 -cluster with D2h symmetry are calculated by restricted (RHF) and unrestricted (UHF) Hartree-Fock theory; Møller-Plesset perturbation theory (MPn); coupled-cluster theory with singles, doubles, and a perturbational treatment for connected triples ...

Nonlinear Electrodynamic and Optical Properties of Graphene
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Graphene is a recently discovered new material with unique physical properties. In this paper we discuss its electrodynamic and optical properties. It is shown that the electromagnetic response of graphene to the external radiation is strongly nonlinear and such phenomena as the frequency harmonics generation and frequency mixing effects can be ...

Linear and nonlinear optical properties of azobenzene derivatives
Journal of Molecular Modeling, 2009The results of computations of spectroscopic parameters of lowest-lying electronic excited states of azobenezene derivatives are presented. The analysis of experimentally recorded spectra was supported by quantum chemical calculations using density functional theory.
