Research on optical sampling based on SOA's nonlinear polarization rotation
2016 Progress in Electromagnetic Research Symposium (PIERS), 2016In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an optical sampling scheme based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) effect of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), the sampled signal is a pulse with 20 GHz repetition rate and 420 fs pulse width generated by a mode-locked fiber ring laser constituted by SOA and electro-absorption modulator (EAM).

Fiber laser modelocked by the nonlinear polarization rotation Sagnac interferometer
SPIE Proceedings, 2003We report experiments on a fiber laser configuration based on a nonlinear Sagnac interferometer with a symmetrical coupler, a quarter-wave retarder, and a highly twisted low-birefringence fiber. The modelocking operation is achieved by nonlinear polarization rotation.
