Are apparent findings of nonlinearity due to structural instability in economic time series?

open access: yes, 2001
Many modelling issues and policy debates in macroeconomics depend on whether macroeconomic times series are best characterized as linear or nonlinear. If departures from linearity exist, it is important to know whether these are endogenously generated ...

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Latent diffusion models for event history analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We consider Bayesian hierarchical models for event history analysis, where the event times are modeled through an underlying diffusion process, which determines the hazard rate. We show how these models can be e±ciently treated by means of Markov chain

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Seismic Performance Evaluation of Multi-Storey Residential Building with Friction Pendulum Bearings: Indonesia case study

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings
The methodology for seismic performance evaluation of a residential building in Indonesia with the use of seismic isolation is considered. An 8-storey reinforced concrete frame residential building with shear wall structural system was selected as a case

The Effect of Spandrel Beam's Specification on Response Modification Factor of Concrete Coupled Shear Walls [PDF]

open access: yesCivil Engineering Infrastructures Journal, 2016
Response modification factor (R factor) is one of the seismic design parameters to be considered in evaluating the performance of buildings during strong motions. This paper has tried to evaluate the response modification factor of concrete coupled shear

Nonlinear Time-History Analysis of Soil-Structure Systems Incorporating Frequency-Dependent Impedance Functions

open access: yesCoRR, 2023
To accurately analyze structures, soil-structure interaction effects must be taken into account. One approach is to create a complete finite element model of the full system wherein the soil is represented as a semi-infinite domain. This direct method is frequently adopted in research studies, but it is typically avoided in engineering practice due to ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Effect of U-Shaped Metallic Dampers on the Seismic Performance of Steel Structures based on Endurance-Time Analysis

open access: yesBuildings
Seismic performance of steel moment-resisting frames is investigated through the incorporation of U-shaped metallic dampers. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of these dampers in mitigating seismic responses by utilizing various ...
