One-sided and two-sided nonparametric tests for heterogeneity comparisons

open access: yesStatistica, 2013
This work consists of an inferential procedure that allows for a solution to the problem of hypothesis testing, in which the objective is that of comparing the heterogeneity of two populations on the basis of sampling data, i.e.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Nonparametric tests for differential gene expression and interaction effects in multi-factorial microarray experiments

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2005
Background Numerous nonparametric approaches have been proposed in literature to detect differential gene expression in the setting of two user-defined groups.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Fundamentals of Nonparametric Statistical Tests for Dental Clinical Research

open access: yesDentistry Journal
This article provides the foundation for employing nonparametric testing in dental clinical research. To make wise judgments in their research, investigators should learn more about the main nonparametric tests and their particular uses.

Nonparametric Tests for Treatment Effect Heterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yes
A large part of the recent literature on program evaluation has focused on estimation of the average effect of the treatment under assumptions of unconfoundedness or ignorability following the seminal work by Rubin (1974) and Rosenbaum and Rubin (1983 ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Nonparametric tests of conditional treatment effects [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a general class of nonparametric tests for treatment effects conditional on covariates. We consider a wide spectrum of null and alternative hypotheses regarding conditional treatment effects, including (i) the null hypothesis of the ...

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Deep Learning–Assisted Differentiation of Four Peripheral Neuropathies Using Corneal Confocal Microscopy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Peripheral neuropathies contribute to patient disability but may be diagnosed late or missed altogether due to late referral, limitation of current diagnostic methods and lack of specialized testing facilities. To address this clinical gap, we developed NeuropathAI, an interpretable deep learning–based multiclass classification ...
