Apolipoprotein F is reduced in humans with steatosis and controls plasma triglyceride‐rich lipoprotein metabolism

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Hepatic APOF transcript levels correlate inversely with plasma TG and hepatic steatosis in humans. ApoF expression in mice promotes VLDL‐TG production and lipoprotein remnant clearance in mice. Abstract Background NAFLD affects nearly 25% of the global population. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of death among patients with NAFLD,

Diagnostic Use of Testing for Novel Murine Autoantibodies for Sjögren Disease in the Rheumatology Outpatient Setting

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The goal was to assess the diagnostic performance of three novel autoantibodies (NA) for Sjögren disease (SjD) by comparing NA prevalence in patients with SjD, other autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), nonspecific chronic sialadenitis (CS), and controls.

Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

The Effect of Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) Extract on the Expression of norA Efflux Pump Gene in Clinical Strains of Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Resources, 2018
The NorA efflux pump considered as one of the contributors to antibiotic resistance in Staphylococcus aureus strains. One of the challenges of the researchers is finding natural plant compounds with the ability to inhibit the pumps. The aim of this study

Discordance Between Patient and Physician Global Assessments in Early Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to identify factors associated with patient global assessment (PtGA) and physician global assessment (PhGA) and discordance between them in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods Data from adults with early SSc (<5 years) from the Collaborative National Quality and Efficacy Registry were included.

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Cardiac bridging integrator 1 gene therapy rescues chronic non-ischemic heart failure in minipigs

open access: yesnpj Regenerative Medicine
Heart failure (HF) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide, yet with limited therapeutic options. Cardiac bridging integrator 1 (cBIN1), a cardiomyocyte transverse-tubule (t-tubule) scaffolding protein which organizes the calcium handling ...
