Inelastic neutron scattering peak in Zn substituted YBa2Cu3O7

open access: yes, 1999
The effects of nonmagnetic impurities on the neutron scattering intensity are studied for a model of the copper oxide layers in the normal state. The contribution to the Q=(pi,pi) neutron scattering intensity from processes involving the scattering of ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Polynomial approximations of the Normal toWeibull Distribution transformation

open access: yesAIMS Energy, 2014
Some of the tools that are generally employed in power system analysis need to use approaches based on statistical distributions for simulating the cumulative behavior of the different system devices. For example, the probabilistic load flow.

Normal approximation in regression

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 1991
We obtain a uniform strong approximation for the distribution of a Nadaraya-Watson kernel estimator of a regression function. The approximation is obtained for general multivariate explanatory variables under an algebraic moment condition on the errors.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Renormalization effects in interacting quantum dots coupled to superconducting leads

open access: yes, 2013
We study subgap transport through an interacting quantum dot tunnel coupled to one normal and two superconducting leads. To check the reliability of an approximation of an infinitely-large gap $\Delta$ in the superconducting leads and weak tunnel ...

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Skewed Libor Market Model and Gaussian HJM explicit approaches to rolled deposit options [PDF]

open access: yes
A simple exotic option (floor on rolled deposit) is studied in the shifted log-normal Libor Market (LMM) and Gaussian HJM models. The shifted log-normal LMM exhibits a controllable volatility skew. An explicit approach is used for both models.
