Statistical measures of the central tendency for H+ activity and pH
Despite the numerous papers on the statistical analyses of pH, there is no explicit opinion on the use of arithmetic mean as a measure of the central tendency for pH and H+ activity.

Central tendency and variability in biological systems [PDF]
In this article, the author reviews the manner in which researchers characterize data. Normality, standard deviation, mean, and other concepts related to parametric statistics are discussed in common language, with a minimum of jargon and with clinical ...

A Multivariate Skew-Normal-Tukey-h Distribution [PDF]
We introduce a new family of multivariate distributions by taking the component-wise Tukey-h transformation of a random vector following a skew-normal distribution. The proposed distribution is named the skew-normal-Tukey-h distribution and is an extension of the skew-normal distribution for handling heavy-tailed data.

Mixed Control Charts Using EWMA Statistics
In this paper, two mixed control charts are designed for process monitoring when the quality characteristic of interest follows a normal distribution.

Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.

Normal Power Series Class of Distributions: Model, Properties and Applications [PDF]
A new class of distributions, called as normal power series (NPS), which contains the normal one as a particular case, is introduced in this paper. This new class which is obtained by compounding the normal and power series distributions, is presented as an alternative to the class of skew-normal and Balakrishnan skew-normal distributions, among others.

On moments of folded and doubly truncated multivariate extended skew-normal distributions [PDF]
This paper develops recurrence relations for integrals that relate the density of multivariate extended skew-normal (ESN) distribution, including the well-known skew-normal (SN) distribution introduced by Azzalini and Dalla-Valle (1996) and the popular multivariate normal distribution.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Externally studentized normal midrange distribution
The distribution of externally studentized midrange was created based on the original studentization procedures of Student and was inspired in the distribution of the externally studentized range.

Evaluating the Normal Distribution [PDF]
This article provides a little table-free C function that evaluates the normal distribution with absolute error less than 8 x 10 ^-16 . A small extension provides relative error near the limit available in double precision: 14 to 16 digits, the limits ...
