Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

INTERNAL STRUCTURE OF FAULT ZONES: SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL EVOLUTION STUDIES ON CLAY MODELS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
Based on results obtained from experiments on clay models, it appeared possible to establish main regularities in the evolution of normal and strike-slip zones which structures are formed heterogeneously in time and space.

Detailed Analysis of Structures in the Foot Wall of the Champlain Thrust at Lone Rock Point, Burlington, Vermont [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The objective of this project was to identify a strain gradient and relative chronology within the foot wall of the Champlain Thrust Fault at Lone Rock Point, Burlington, Vermont in order to determine how the unique fault-bounded ellipsoidal lozenge ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

X- and C-Band SAR Surface Displacement for the 2013 Lunigiana Earthquake (Northern Italy): A Breached Relay Ramp?

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2014
In this paper, we applied the differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) technique to investigate and measure surface displacements due to the Mw 5.3 (M1 5.2), June 21, 2013 earthquake, occurred north of the Apuan Alps (NW Italy), in ...

Possible role of crustal flexure in the initial detachment of extensional allochthons [PDF]

open access: yes
The existence of low-angle normal faults indicates that the ratio of shear stress (TAU) to normal stress (sigma sub N) needed to cause slip on faults is substantially less than would be predicted based on experimental data. Because the tensional strength

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Investigation of the Relationship of Earthquakes and Underground Waste Disposal in The El Dorado Area, Arkansas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
From December, 1983 to September, 1989 twelve small earthquakes were recorded for the El Dorado, Arkansas area. Magnitudes of these earthquakes were well below damaging levels.
