Strontium and oxidative stress in normal pregnancy

It is argued that normally the stresses in the lithosphere are hydrostatic or pseudohydrostatic. Several mechanisms are discussed that account for this feature, the more important one being plastic deformation leading to a situation in which the crustal material can be considered as ‘pre-stressed’ inthe horizontal plane.
