Amblyopia: The Normal Eye is Not Normal
Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1990ABSTRACT When acuity was used to evaluate amblyopia in children, the amblyopic eye had decreased acuity and the nonamblyopic eye had normal acuity. However when Contrast Sensitivity Functions (CSFs) were used to evaluate amblyopia, losses in the CSF were discovered in both the amblyopic and the nonamblyopic eyes.

Transformers without Normalization
Computer Vision and Pattern RecognitionNormalization layers are ubiquitous in modern neural networks and have long been considered essential. This work demonstrates that Transformers without normalization can achieve the same or better performance using a remarkably simple technique.

Ever Looser Union?, 2020
Focusing on the 2004 and 2007 Eastern enlargement of the European Union, this chapter traces the ‘normalization’ of differentiated integration after new countries become member states. The chapter explains pre-accession tensions between demands of member

To normalize or not to normalize? Fat is the question
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 1995Abstract Concentrations of lipophilic contaminants in biota are frequently corrected for variation in tissue lipid content. Usually, this correction is accomplished by dividing tissue contaminant concentration by lipid concentration to form lipid-normalized data.

Primary Care: Clinics in Office Practice, 2000
Labor and delivery have been viewed by physicians as processes that can and must be managed by physicians for their pregnant patients. This article asserts that most births do not need to be interventionally managed and that a birth attendant's highest order skill is knowing when and how not to intervene.

Can normal be more normal than normal?
Critical Care Medicine, 2010To the Editor:We read with great interest the elegant study of Dr. Boerma et al (1) evaluating the effects of nitroglycerin on sublingual microcirculation in septic patients. However, we have serious concerns about the data analysis, which precludes definitive conclusions on the effectiveness, or ...

Finite Groups with Normal Normalizers
Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1968We say that a finite group G has property N if the normalizer of every subgroup of G is normal in G. Such groups are nilpotent since every Sylow subgroup is normal (the normalizer of a Sylow subgroup is its own normalizer). Thus it is sufficient to study p-groups which have property N. Note that property N is inherited by subgroups and factor groups.

Normal Scores, Normal Plots Tests for Normality
Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1996Abstract In this article we develop new plotting positions for normal plots. The use of the plots usually centers on detecting irregular tail behavior or outliers. Along with the normal plot, we develop tests for various departures from normality, especially for skewness and heavy tails.

Numerous events are involved in brain development, some of which are detected by neuroimaging. Major changes in brain morphology are depicted by brain imaging during the fetal period while changes in brain composition can be demonstrated in both pre- and postnatal periods.
