Time-resolved electron beam phase space tomography at a soft x-ray free-electron laser

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2009
High-gain free-electron lasers (FELs) in the ultraviolet and x-ray regime put stringent demands on the peak current, transverse emittance, and energy spread of the driving electron beam.

Calculation of Electron Swarm Parameters in Tetrafluoromethane

open access: yesARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, 2020
The electron swarm parameters and electron energy distribution function (EEDF) are necessary, especially on understanding quantitatively plasma phenomena and ionized gases.

Logarithmically efficient estimation of the tail of the multivariate normal distribution

open access: yes2017 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC), 2017
Simulation from the tail of the multivariate normal density has numerous applications in statistics and operations research. Unfortunately, there is no simple formula for the cumulative distribution function of the multivariate normal law, and simulation from its tail can frequently only be approximate.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Dynamic margin contrastive learning for open-set recognition in long-tailed sonar imagery

open access: yesScientific Reports
Long-tail distribution and open-set recognition remain significant challenges in sonar image classification. This study introduces Dynamic Margin Contrastive Learning (DMCL), a novel framework that simultaneously addresses both issues through adaptive ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

PMEL governs autosomal dominant inheritance of white-tail independent of yellow body plumage in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus)

open access: yesPoultry Science
Region-specific feather pigmentation is widespread in birds, yet the genetic mechanisms enabling independent control of body and tail plumage remain poorly understood.

TAIL MELANOPHORES OF XENOPUS IN NORMAL DEVELOPMENT AND REGENERATION

open access: yesThe Biological Bulletin, 1960
1. The peculiar light-sensitive melanophores in the ventral fin of Xenopus larvae first appear about stage 47. Gradually, pigmentation increases in the distal half of the fin, but the proximal portion remains free of melanophores throughout the larval period.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Treatment of CoQ(10) deficient fibroblasts with ubiquinone, CoQ analogs, and vitamin C: time- and compound-dependent effects.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundCoenzyme Q(10) (CoQ(10)) and its analogs are used therapeutically by virtue of their functions as electron carriers, antioxidant compounds, or both.
