The effect of notched noise on flicker detection and discrimination
Flicker perception was investigated using two-alternative forced-choice detection and discrimination tasks with four different types of external noise: (1) broadband noise, (2) 5-Hz notched-noise--broadband noise with a 5-Hz band centered on the signal frequency removed, (3) 10-Hz notched-noise, and (4) no external noise.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Mechanically origami‐coded 3D kirigami photovoltaics convert a single extension–release cycle into deterministic self‐folding, reconfiguring planar solar cells into programmable 3D modules. Distinct coding strategies enable either ultrahigh stretchability (500% system strain) or ultrahigh initial effective areal coverage (225%).

The interference effect of notches on yield point load is analysed by the upper and lower bound theorems for a specimen with double U-notches which is subjected to tensile load under the plane strain and axisymmetrical deformation. The notch pitch range influencing the interference effect on yield point load obtained by theory is in good agreement with

Data‐Efficient Electromagnetic Surrogate Solver Through Dissipative Relaxation Transfer Learning
Dissipative relaxation transfer learning (DIRTL) enables data‐efficient training of electromagnetic surrogate solvers by pretraining data generated with artificial material loss before fine‐tuning on target lossless data. The framework suppresses resonant outlier effects during early training, allowing effective adaptation to high‐amplitude resonances ...
