Notch Signaling Molecules Activate TGF-β in Rat Mesangial Cells under High Glucose Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, 2013
The involvement of the Notch signaling pathway in the cellular differentiation of the mammalian kidney is established. Recently, the dysregulation of Notch signaling molecules has been identified in acute and chronic renal injuries, fibrosis models, and ...

Post-Developmental Roles of Notch Signaling in the Nervous System

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
Since its discovery in Drosophila, the Notch signaling pathway has been studied in numerous developmental contexts in diverse multicellular organisms. The role of Notch signaling in nervous system development has been extensively investigated by numerous

The roles and activation of endocardial Notch signaling in heart regeneration

open access: yesCell Regeneration, 2021
As a highly conserved signaling pathway in metazoans, the Notch pathway plays important roles in embryonic development and tissue regeneration. Recently, cardiac injury and regeneration have become an increasingly popular topic for biomedical research ...

Cis-activation in the Notch signaling pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The Notch signaling pathway consists of transmembrane ligands and receptors that can interact both within the same cell (cis) and across cell boundaries (trans). Previous work has shown that cis-interactions act to inhibit productive signaling.

Essential gene pathways for glioblastoma stem cells: clinical implications for prevention of tumor recurrence. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Glioblastoma (World Health Organization/WHO grade IV) is the most common and most aggressive adult glial tumor. Patients with glioblastoma, despite being treated with gross total resection and post-operative radiation/chemotherapy, will almost always ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Current research of the Notch pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Notch signaling is a widely preserved communication pathway that supports essential cellular functions by allowing adjacent cells to interact. The Notch signaling pathway consists of Notch ligands (DSL proteins), Notch receptors, DNA-binding proteins ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

NOTCH Signaling in Osteosarcoma

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology, 2023
The combination of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery has been promoted for the treatment of osteosarcoma; however, the local recurrence and lung metastasis rates remain high.

Current perspectives of the signaling pathways directing neural crest induction. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The neural crest is a migratory population of embryonic cells with a tremendous potential to differentiate and contribute to nearly every organ system in the adult body.
