The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

From 'nothing' to inflation and back again
A procedure for solving Wheeler-DeWitt equation in Euclidean region, following step by step the construction of tunneling wave function in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics by Banks, Bender and Wu, is proposed.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

The LSE identity project. House of Lords : All party briefing : "Nothing to hide, nothing to fear” [PDF]
The original amendment on cost information, put forward in the House of Lords, sought to address a widely held concern about the government’s unwillingness to be open about the likely costs associated with implementing the identity cards scheme.

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

This paper re-examines Saussure’s structuralism through Nishida Kitarō’s logic of basho (basho teki ronri 場所的論理), a philosophical theory rooted in the concept of mu 無. By adopting this perspective, we explore the foundation of linguistic structure while

These images are from Drawn to the Edge, my solo exhibition at the New Orleans Museum of Art (June 15 to September 9, 2012). In many ways the work is an attempt to capture time—to ex-plore how today’s New Orleans is profoundly connected to its past and to consider how quickly we seem to be running out of time.During a six-week residency this spring at ...

"All versus nothing" inseparability for two observers
A recent proof of Bell's theorem without inequalities [A. Cabello, Phys. Rev. Lett. 86, 1911 (2001)] is formulated as a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-like proof involving just two observers.
