Actinomycin Derivatives: Structural Diversification and Biological Activities

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Actinomycins are chromopeptide antibiotics exhibiting remarkable structural diversity and broad bioactivity. This review traces their development from naturally occurring D‐, X‐, A‐, G‐, Y‐, and Z‐type analogs to precursor‐directed, synthetic, and semisynthetic derivatives.

Improved Incorporation of Arylglycines Into Ramoplanin Sequences via Solid‐Phase Peptide Synthesis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 30, 12 August 2026.
The incorporation of arylglycines using solid‐phase peptide synthesis remains challenging due to the sensitivity of these residues for epimerization. Here, exploring multiple conditions for the incorporation of arylglycine residues into peptides using SPPS demonstrates how small changes to current synthesis protocols can lead to significant ...

Streptavidins Coordinate Biotin Sequestration and Self‐Resistance Within a Biotin‐Pathway Antibiotic Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
A conserved genomic region between two streptavidin genes in Streptomyces packages biosynthetic gene clusters for diverse biotin‐pathway antibiotics: acidomycin, stravidin, the new non‐proteinogenic amino acid ANDA, and the new BioA inhibitor α‐methyl‐KAPA.

Total substitution and partial modification of the set of non-ribosomal peptide synthetases clusters lead to pyoverdine diversity in the Pseudomonas fluorescens complex

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Pyoverdines are high affinity siderophores produced by most Pseudomonas with a wide role in microbial interspecies interactions. They are primarily composed of a conserved chromophore moiety, an acyl side chain and a peptide backbone which may be highly ...

Predictive Ability of the CHA2DS2‐VA Score for No‐Reflow Phenomenon in ST‐Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients Undergoing Primary PCI

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
The CHA2DS2‐VA score predicts no‐reflow after primary PCI in female STEMI patients (AUC 0.673) but not males. These sex‐specific findings support tailored risk stratification: standalone CV score use for women, versus integration with laboratory and procedural markers for men.

Geographic Disparities in Stroke Action Awareness in China: A National Survey

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
Geographic Disparities in Stroke Action Awareness in China. ABSTRACT Objective Stroke incidence and mortality are higher among adults in northern and western China, commonly referred to as the “Stroke Belt.” However, few studies have compared stroke action awareness between Stroke Belt and non–Stroke Belt regions at the national level. This study aimed

3,3′,4,5′‐Tetramethoxy‐trans‐stilbene Alleviates Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
3,3′,4,5′‐Tetramethoxy‐trans‐stilbene alleviates hepatic insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease, through the activation of IRS/PI3K/Akt/GSK3β/GS and Nrf2/HO‐1 pathways, in diet‐induced obese mice. The figure was created with MedPeer (medpeer.cn).

Non-magnetic four-port electronic circulators based on $$90^\circ $$ 90 ∘ non-reciprocal phase-shifters

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper presents a family of four-port electronic circulators adhering to a new topology symmetry that enables linear, low-loss transistor-based circuit implementations. The underlying principle of operation employs a property of the $$90^\circ $$ 90 ∘

Efficacy and Safety of Ultrasound‐Guided Nerve Block Versus Local Anesthesia for Arteriovenous Fistula Angioplasty: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Severe intra‐procedural pain commonly complicates percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) for dysfunctional arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs), undermining patient cooperation and potentially increasing the need for sedative medications.

Deciphering the Function and Structure of PA1216 as an S‐Adenosyl‐l‐Methionine Binding Protein Using Differential Scanning Fluorimetry and Circular Dichroism

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Microbes produce bioactive secondary metabolites as toxins, pigments, or virulence factors. These specialized compounds are produced by nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPS), polyketide synthases (PKS), or hybrid NRPS/PKS pathways. The genes encoding NRPS and PKS reside in biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs), some of which have no identified ...
