Real-world Treatment Patterns in Patients with EGFR Mutation-positive NSCLC Receiving a First-Line, First- or Second-generation EGFR Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor in South Korea and Taiwan

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Cancer Biology, 2021
Introduction: The preferred first-line (1L) treatment for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation-positive (EGFRm) advanced/metastatic non-small lung cancer (NSCLC) are EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Differential responsiveness of MET inhibition in non-small-cell lung cancer with altered CBL. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Casitas B-lineage lymphoma (CBL) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase and a molecule of adaptor that we have shown is important for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We investigated if MET is a target of CBL and if enhanced in CBL-altered NSCLC.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Cucurbitacin E inhibits the Yes‑associated protein signaling pathway and suppresses brain metastasis of human non‑small cell lung cancer in a murine model. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Human non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is associated with an extremely poor prognosis especially for the 40% of patients who develop brain metastasis, and few treatment strategies exist.

Metronomic chemotherapy preserves quality of life ensuring efficacy in elderly advanced non small cell lung cancer patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Metastatic non small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) are diseases with poor prognosis and platinum-based doublet chemotherapy still remains their standard cure.

A preliminary results of integrated chemotherapy with EGFR receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors in patients with non-small-cell-lung cancer harboring EGFR mutation

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2019
In the open prospective non-randomized single-center study we recruited patients with advanced NSCLC harboring EGFR mutations. Initially there were two months of treatment by gefitinib 250 mg daily.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Comparison of TCGA and GENIE genomic datasets for the detection of clinically actionable alterations in breast cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Whole exome sequencing (WES), targeted gene panel sequencing and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays are increasingly used for the identification of actionable alterations that are critical to cancer care.
