Mitochondrial Variations in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) Survival [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mutations in the mtDNA genome have long been suspected to play an important role in cancer. Although most cancer cells harbor mtDNA mutations, the question of whether such mutations are associated with clinical prognosis of lung cancer remains unclear ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Metastatic squamous cell non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC): disrupting the drug treatment paradigm with immunotherapies

open access: yes, 2015
Lung cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Unlike non-squamous NSCLC, squamous NSCLC rarely harbor epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic lymphoma kinase ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

α-Hederin Regulates SREBP1/FASN Pathway and Inhibits Malignant Phenotype of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesZhongliu Fangzhi Yanjiu, 2023
Objective To explore the regulative effect of α-Hederin on the proliferation and invasion of NSCLC and investigate its related molecular mechanism. Methods After A549 and HCC-1833 cells were treated with a concentration gradient of α-Hederin for 24 and ...

Current Pharmacotherapy of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yes, 2023
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a prevalent form of lung cancer and a significant cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. It constitutes approximately 80-85% of all lung cancer cases.
