A New Role for NtrC: Control of Klebsiella pneumoniae nifL Activity
1998The nitrogen regulatory protein NtrC (also called NRI) of enteric bacteria is an enhancer-binding protein that activates transcription by σ54-holoenzyme (e. g. of the ntfLA and glnA operons). To activate transcription NtrC must be phosphorylated on a conserved aspartate residue, a reaction that occurs under nitrogen-limiting conditions.

Protein Expression and Purification, 2003
NtrC is a bacterial enhancer-binding protein (EBP) that activates transcription by the sigma54 RNA polymerase holoenzyme. NtrC has a three domain structure typical of EBP family. In Herbaspirillum seropedicae, an endophytic diazotroph, NtrC regulates several operons involved in nitrogen assimilation, including glnAntrBC.

Role of the NtrC family response regulator in nitrogen metabolism of Acinetobacter baumannii
GeneAcinetobacter baumannii is an important Gram-negative nosocomial pathogen that causes opportunistic infections and employs different mechanisms to survive in the presence of antibiotics in the host. Nutrient limitation is one of the important defense mechanisms of the mammalian immune system to fight against the colonization of pathogens like A ...

Cloning of ntrBC Genes and Regulation of ntrC Expression of Alcaligenes faecalis
1998A genomic library of A. faecalis A1501 was constructed in the broad-host-range cosmid vector pLA2917. A plasmid clone pLAF58 carrying ntrBC-like genes was obtained by colony hybridization, using heterologous probes. The ntrBC genes were localized on a 9.5kb SacI fragment.
