Parallel theoretical study of the two components of the prompt fission neutrons: Dynamically released at scission and evaporated from fully accelerated fragments

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
Prompt fission neutrons (PFN) angular and energy distributions for the reaction 235U(nth,f) are calculated as a function of the mass asymmetry of the fission fragments using two extreme assumptions: 1) PFN are released during the neck rupture due to the ...

Kantian Nonideal Theory and Nuclear Proliferation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent revelations of Iran’s hitherto undisclosed uranium enrichment programs have once again incited western fears that Tehran seeks nuclear weapons’ capability. Their fears seem motivated by more than the concern for compliance

Filtrated K-theory for real rank zero C*-algebras

open access: yes, 2011
Using Kirchberg KK_X-classification of purely infinite, separable, stable, nuclear C*-algebras with finite primitive ideal space, Bentmann showed that filtrated K-theory classifies purely infinite, separable, stable, nuclear C*-algebras that satisfy that

The subcellular distribution of phosphorylated Y‐box‐binding protein‐1 at S102 in colorectal cancer patients, stratified by KRAS mutational status and clinicopathological features

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies nuclear YB‐1 S102 phosphorylation as a marker associated with KRAS and FBXW7 mutations in colorectal cancer. Mutated KRAS correlates specifically with nuclear, not cytoplasmic, S102 YB‐1. These findings provide the first ex vivo evidence of this link in CRC and suggest future studies should assess the prognostic and therapeutic ...

Preconditioned flow as a solution to the hierarchical growth problem in the generalized Lefschetz thimble method

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The generalized Lefschetz thimble method is a promising approach that attempts to solve the sign problem in Monte Carlo methods by deforming the integration contour using the flow equation.

D2-D8 system with massive strings and the Lifshitz spacetimes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
The Romans’ type IIA supergravity allows fundamental strings to have explicit mass term at the tree level. We show that there exists a (F1,D2,D8) brane configuration which gives rise to Lif 4 (2)  × R 1 × S 5 vacua supported by the massive strings.

Pion Excess, Nuclear Correlations, and the Interpretation of ($\vec p, \vec n$) Spin Transfer Experiments

open access: yes, 1997
Conventional theories of nuclear interactions predict a net increase in the distribution of virtual pions in nuclei relative to free nucleons. Analysis of data from several nuclear experiments has led to claims of evidence against such a pion excess ...

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Strings, branes, Schwarzian action and maximal chaos

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2023
In this article, we present explicit evidence that maximal chaos occurs for a generic, probe quark-like defect degrees of freedom, in a strongly coupled large Nc gauge theory.

Novel Aspects of QCD in Leptoproduction

open access: yes, 2004
I review several topics in electroproduction which test fundamental aspects of QCD. These include the role of final-state interactions in producing diffractive leptoproduction processes, the shadowing of nuclear structure functions, and target-spin ...
