Nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions

Tetrahedron, 1966
Abstract One- and two-step mechanisms for nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions are discussed by means of a molecular orbital treatment, in a modified Huckel approximation. A correlation between experimental and theoretical activation energies was found for reactions of fluoro-, chloro-, bromo-benzenes and -naphthalenes carrying one or two ...

Aromatic nucleophilic substitution—II

Tetrahedron, 1973
Abstract The intermediates in the reactions of 2,4-dinitro-(2) or 2,4,5-trinitro-1-naphthyl ethyl ether (11) with secondary amines have been studied. In the reaction of 2 with piperidine, the NMR spectrum of the reaction system indicated the coexistence of the three species-starting material, Meisenheimer complex, and substituted product.

Steric Effects in Nucleophilic Aromatic Substitution reactions with aromatic amines 12th communication on nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions

Helvetica Chimica Acta, 1975
AbstractThe kinetics of the SNAr reactions of aniline and N‐methylaniline with a variety of substituted nitrochlorobenzenes in acetonitrile demonstrate that the formation of the intermediate σ‐complex is rate determining. The ratio of the rate constants of the aniline and the N‐methylaniline reactions (kA/kM) increases with increasing size of the 6 ...

Synthesis of Polynitroxides Based on Nucleophilic Aromatic Substitution

Organic Letters, 2010
The scope and limitations of the synthesis of polynitroxides by nucleophilic substitution of electron-deficient fluorinated aromatic compounds are described. The method provides a facile route to the formation of polynitroxides exhibiting strong electron exchange between nitroxide groups.

Dynamic self-correcting nucleophilic aromatic substitution

Nature Chemistry, 2018
Dynamic covalent chemistry, with its ability to correct synthetic dead-ends, allows for the synthesis of elaborate extended network materials in high yields. However, the limited number of reactions amenable to dynamic covalent chemistry necessarily confines the scope and functionality of materials synthesized.

Partially Fluorinated Tetraazaacenes by Nucleophilic Aromatic Substitution

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
We report the sodium hydride-mediated reactions of a diethynylated diaminophenazine with perfluorobenzene, perfluoronaphthalene, and two octafluoroanthracene derivatives. In all of the cases, an N,N-dihydropyrazine ring is formed, and partially fluorinated tetraazapentacenes, tetraazahexacenes, and tetraazaheptacenes (in their respective N,N-dihydro ...
