Senolytic Treatment With Dasatinib and Quercetin Reshapes Influenza‐Specific CD8 T Cell Responses During Infection in Aged, Vaccinated Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
Impaired vaccination responses leave older adults more vulnerable to severe influenza (flu) infections. Pretreatment with senolytic Dasatinib and Quercertin (D + Q) did not improve vaccine responses but altered some responses to sublethal flu challenge. Despite these changes, overall flu outcomes were not impacted.

Propionibacterium acnes evades microbicidal phagocytosis by inhibiting the mitochondrial biogenesis of nucleus pulposus cells

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 1, Page 295-317, January 2026.
P. acnes infection impairs the mitochondrial biogenesis of nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) through the AMPK/SIRT‐1/PGC‐1α signaling pathway. This results in impaired mitochondria that are unable to generate sufficient ATP, and impaired delivery of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species to carry out the bactericidal process effectively.

Lysine demethylase 4A: from chromatin to centrosomes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 2, Page 392-395, January 2026.
The lysine demethylase 4A (KDM4A) remodels chromatin by histone demethylation, regulating gene expression. In this issue, Chowdhury et al. report a previously undescribed localisation for KDM4A outside the nucleus, at the pericentriolar material around the centrosome.

A guide to building the matrisome interactome: from computational predictions to experimental validation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 1, Page 42-70, January 2026.
This guide proposes a roadmap combining state‐of‐the‐art computational and experimental approaches (including biophysical, biochemical, and imaging techniques) to identify, characterize, and contextualize extracellular matrix (ECM) protein interactions.
