The Cognitive Estimation Task Is Nonunitary: Evidence for Multiple Magnitude Representation Mechanisms Among Normative and ADHD College Students

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Cognition, 2017
There is a current debate on whether the cognitive system has a shared representation for all magnitudes or whether there are unique representations. To investigate this question, we used the Biber cognitive estimation task.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

D-adaptive model for the elasticity problem

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
The paper presents some aspects of the formulation and numerical implementation of combined mathematical model "elastic body - Timoshenko plate". The variational problem is formulated. The existence of solution of combined model is considered.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Numerical solution for space and time fractional order Burger type equation

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2018
In this paper, we study the fractional differential operators thereby considering the space and time order Burger type equation with initial condition. The extended finite difference method which is based on shifted Grünwald, Caputo and Riemann formulas ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Almost sure and moment exponential stability in the numerical simulation of stochastic differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Relatively little is known about the ability of numerical methods for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) to reproduce almost sure and small-moment stability.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The radial integration boundary integral and integro-differential equation methods for numerical solution of problems with variable coefficients

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. The boundary element method (BEM) has become a powerful method for the numerical solution of boundary-value problems (BVPs), due to its ability (at least ...
