Some variance reduction methods for numerical stochastic homogenization

open access: yes, 2015
We overview a series of recent works devoted to variance reduction techniques for numerical stochastic homogenization. Numerical homogenization requires solving a set of problems at the micro scale, the so-called corrector problems.

A 1D continuum model for beams with pantographic microstructure: asymptotic micro-macro identification and numerical results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the standard asymptotic micro-macro identification theory, starting from a De Saint-Venant cylinder, it is possible to prove that, in the asymptotic limit, only flexible, inextensible, beams can be obtained at the macro-level.

A Multiresolution Strategy for Numerical Homogenization

open access: yesApplied and Computational Harmonic Analysis, 1995
The work is concerned with a multiresolution strategy for homogenization of differential equations (ordinary and partial). The authors develop an efficient numerical approach which generates the coefficients of the homogenized equation. The multiresolution analysis (MRA), a notion introduction by \textit{Y. Meyer}, is used [Rev. Mat. Iberoam. 8, No. 2,

Localized orthogonal decomposition method for the wave equation with a continuum of scales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper is devoted to numerical approximations for the wave equation with a multiscale character. Our approach is formulated in the framework of the Localized Orthogonal Decomposition (LOD) interpreted as a numerical homogenization with an $L^2 ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Modeling and calculation of the three-dimensional reactor core and comparative analysis of various homogenization schemes for asymmetrical fuel assemblies based on BEAVRS 2.02

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundThe two-step approach, as the major method in reactor numerical calculation, faces the challenge of accuracy in calculating high-fidelity models because of limitations imposed by simplified assumptions such as assembly homogenization and the ...

DIFFUSION PIECEWISE HOMOGENIZATION VIA FLUX DISCONTINUITY RATIOS

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2013
We analyze piecewise homogenization with flux-weighted cross sections and preservation of averaged currents at the boundary of the homogenized domain.

Nonasymptotic Homogenization of Periodic Electromagnetic Structures: Uncertainty Principles

open access: yes, 2015
We show that artificial magnetism of periodic dielectric or metal/dielectric structures has limitations and is subject to at least two "uncertainty principles". First, the stronger the magnetic response (the deviation of the effective permeability tensor

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
