Numerical Homogenization of Single-Walled Corrugated Board with Imperfections

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Numerical homogenization is an excellent tool for the quick simplification of complex structures with a model that is much simpler and, at the same time, accurately reflects the mechanical behavior of the original model.

Numerical Homogenization of Nonlinear Random Parabolic Operators [PDF]

open access: yesMultiscale Modeling & Simulation, 2004
Summary: We study the numerical homogenization of nonlinear random parabolic equations. This procedure is developed within a finite element framework. A careful choice of multiscale finite element bases and the global formulation of the problem on the coarse grid allow us to prove the convergence of the numerical method to the homogenized solution of ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

An efficient numerical method for estimating the average free boundary velocity in an inhomogeneous Hele-Shaw problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We develop a numerical method to estimate the average speed of the free boundary in a Hele-Shaw problem with periodic coefficients in both space and time. We test the accuracy of the method and present a few examples.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Stochastic Effects on the Dynamics of the Resonant Structure of a Lorentz Force MEMS Magnetometer

open access: yesActuators, 2019
Resonance features of slender mechanical parts of Lorentz force MEMS magnetometers are affected by the (weakly) coupled thermo-electro-magneto-mechanical multi-physics governing their dynamics.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Recent developments in numerical homogenization

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2017
This paper deals with homogenization of non linear fibre-reinforced composites in the coupled thermomechanical field. For this kind of structures, i.e.

Homogenization-based numerical methods

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems - Series S, 2016
This note recalls what are "Homogenization-Based Numerical Methods". Then it introduces the papers of this Special Issue. In a third section it advocates for building a project in order to build "Homogenization- Based Software for Simulation of Multi-Scale Complex Systems".

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
