Interannual connection of winter Barents-Kara sea-ice variability to ENSO regulated by Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
In this study, the impact of Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) on the connection of winter sea-ice concentration (SIC) over Barents-Kara Seas (BKS) to El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is explored.

Biased Aerosol Wet Deposition CAM5 Simulations: A Result of Misrepresented Convective-Stratiform Precipitation Partitioning When Benchmarked Against SPCAM

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Wet deposition is a major sink for atmospheric aerosols, but its representation in conventional global climate models (GCMs) remains highly uncertain, partly as a result of the partitioning between convective and stratiform precipitation. Using the Super-

Numerical simulation of drying of Pinus pseudostrobus wood with Comsol Multiphysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this work, we present the second part of our investigation. In the first part, we have published a semi-empirical model for drying. In this second part, we present the numerical solution of a drying model for Pinus pseudostrobus (Mexican softwood ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Development and Evaluation of Neural Network Architectures for Model Predictive Control of Building Thermal Systems

open access: yesBuildings
The operational and indoor environmental quality of buildings has a significant impact on global energy consumption and human quality of life. One of the key directions for improving building performance is the optimization of building control systems ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Application of the Front-Fixing Method for Numerical Modelling of Field Diffusion in Non-linear Systems

open access: yes, 2008
Application of a finite difference front fixing method for modelling magnetic field and associated power loss in high temperature superconductors or other strongly non-linear phenomena is considered.

Numerical modelling of frequency comb generation in nonlinear resonators

open access: yes, 2016
We present a comprehensive review of recent work on numerical modelling of frequency comb generation in coherently-driven nonlinear resonators. Specifically, we discuss modelling and nonlinear dynamics of frequency combs generated in Kerr nonlinear ...
