Enhancing Fire Resistance: A Thermal and Structural Optimization Approach for Fire Door Frame Using Numerical Simulation

open access: yesFire
Fire resistance is a critical aspect of passive fire protection, particularly in door systems that must maintain integrity under extreme conditions. This paper presents the thermal and structural performance of a single-leaf sandwich fire door, with the ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A Multi-Strategy Improved Seagull Optimization Algorithm for Global Optimization and Artistic Image Segmentation

open access: yesBiomimetics
Multilevel threshold image segmentation is a key task in image processing, yet it faces challenges such as low search efficiency in high-dimensional spaces, difficulty in balancing segmentation accuracy and stability, and insufficient adaptability to ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

The use of singular value gradients and optimization techniques to design robust controllers for multiloop systems [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for designing robust feedback controllers for multiloop systems is presented. Robustness is characterized in terms of the minimum singular value of the system return difference matrix at the plant input.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

LSEWOA: An Enhanced Whale Optimization Algorithm with Multi-Strategy for Numerical and Engineering Design Optimization Problems

open access: yesSensors
The Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) is a bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm known for its simple structure and ease of implementation. However, WOA suffers from issues such as premature convergence, low population diversity in the later stages of ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
