Autophagy signaling in hypertrophied muscles of diabetic and control rats
FEBS Open Bio, Volume 13, Issue 9, Page 1709-1722, September 2023., 2023We analyzed autophagy proteins in extensor digitorum longus (EDL) and soleus muscles of control and diabetic rats after 7 days of hypertrophy. Basal autophagy proteins were higher in EDL. Diabetes did not affect the hypertrophy or autophagy in either muscle. Soleus showed increased autophagy signaling after hypertrophy.

Rostafuroxin, an antagonist of endogenous cardiotonic steroids, has different effects in rats depending on their nutritional status. In undernourished hypertensive rats, the drug exerts hypotensive, antinatriuretic, and diuretic actions. In normonourished normotensive animals, these actions are not seen; notably, the drug acts as a natriuretic agent ...

Aging and external stressors including exposure to UV light promote senescence of keratinocytes accelerating aging process. Development of effective plant‐based senotherapeutics represent novel approaches for senescent‐related skin disorders and can be used in cosmetic skin changes related to aging.

Abstract This study aimed to develop and validate an instrument to assess Brazilian adults’ knowledge, perceptions, and behaviors (KPB) toward salt and sodium. Based on a PAHO/WHO questionnaire, a new instrument was developed and evaluated by 11 experts, generating item and scale‐level content validity indexes (I‐CVI and S‐CVI, respectively).

Profile of cognitive impairment in late‐stage Parkinson's disease
Brain and Behavior, Volume 12, Issue 4, April 2022., 2022We have characterized the cognitive profile of 84 LSPD patients. Almost all LSPD patients presented cognitive impairment. Fifty‐four LSPD patients (64%) were classified as demented, most of them presented a global impairment profile, with both Alzheimer's and PD‐typical impairments. Twenty‐five patients (30%) presented mild cognitive impairment, mainly
