Autophagy signaling in hypertrophied muscles of diabetic and control rats

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 13, Issue 9, Page 1709-1722, September 2023., 2023
We analyzed autophagy proteins in extensor digitorum longus (EDL) and soleus muscles of control and diabetic rats after 7 days of hypertrophy. Basal autophagy proteins were higher in EDL. Diabetes did not affect the hypertrophy or autophagy in either muscle. Soleus showed increased autophagy signaling after hypertrophy.

Different antihypertensive and metabolic responses to rostafuroxin in undernourished and normonourished male rats: Outcomes on bodily Na+ handling

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 11, Issue 17, September 2023., 2023
Rostafuroxin, an antagonist of endogenous cardiotonic steroids, has different effects in rats depending on their nutritional status. In undernourished hypertensive rats, the drug exerts hypotensive, antinatriuretic, and diuretic actions. In normonourished normotensive animals, these actions are not seen; notably, the drug acts as a natriuretic agent ...

Cellular senescence in skin‐related research: Targeted signaling pathways and naturally occurring therapeutic agents

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2023., 2023
Aging and external stressors including exposure to UV light promote senescence of keratinocytes accelerating aging process. Development of effective plant‐based senotherapeutics represent novel approaches for senescent‐related skin disorders and can be used in cosmetic skin changes related to aging.
