Proposing a pH stabilised nutrient medium for algal growth bioassays

Chemosphere, 2010
Ecotoxicological assessment of chemicals and contaminated sites relies on bioassays using apical endpoints such as detection of growth inhibition using suspension cultures of green algae. For valid effect assessment observable responses should be causally linked to chemical exposure and thus confounding factors should be minimised.

[Bacterial diversity in the sediments of Taihu Lake by using traditional nutrient medium and dilution nutrient medium].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2006
Bacterial diversity in the sediments of Taihu Lake was studied by using traditional nutrient medium (NM) and 10-fold dilution of traditional nutrient medium (DNM). Results showed that the amount of the bacteria cultured on DNM was 3-5 times higher of those on NM.

Enhanced viability of fresh aortic homografts stored in nutrient medium

Cardiovascular Research, 1973
A method of sterilization and preservation which protects structure and cell viability is described. Valves preserved in antibiotic balanced salt solution preserve viability and structure for a limited period of time. Replacement of the balanced salt solution by a nutrient medium has the effect of prolonging viability and increasing storage time.

[Transparent nutrient medium for culturing Francisella tularensis].

Antibiotiki i meditsinskaia biotekhnologiia = Antibiotics and medical biotechnology, 1987
A transparent nutrient medium T (tularemic) for cultivation of F. tularensis was developed on the basis of heart-brain infusion, yeast extract, bactotryptone, technical casamino acids, bactoagar, salts, L-cysteine and glucose. Introduction of an antibiotic (polymyxin B, 100 units/ml) to the medium composition provided selective conditions for growth of

The transfer from nutrient medium to soil

1987
A plant which has originated in vitro, differs in many respects from one produced in vivo (de Fossard, 1977; Grout, 1975; Grout and Aston, 1977, 1978; Grout and Crisp, 1977; Debergh, 1982; Wardle et al., 1983; Sutter, 1985; Fabbri et al., 1986; Connor and Thomas, 1981; Brainerd and Fuchigami, 1985).

Release of Paramecium immobilization antigen to the non-nutrient medium

Cell Biology International Reports, 1980
The instability of Paramecium aurelia surface components has been shown: after 60 min incubation of dense cell suspension ((1-2 . 10(6) cells per ml) in Tris-Ca buffer at 4 degrees C or 23 degrees C the surface coat was partially stripped off and the proteins were released to the medium.

[Minimal synthetic nutrient medium for Clostridium stricklandii bacteria].

Prikladnaia biokhimiia i mikrobiologiia, 1984
A composition of minimal culture medium for the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium sticklandii strain CSG was determined. A fully synthetic culture medium promoting the cell yield up to 1 g dry biomass per 1 1 was found. It is composed of 13 amino acids, sodium formiate, four vitamins, microelements and salts.
