Telemedicine and Mortality Reduction During COVID-19: Telemonitoring as a Key Strategy for Emergency Health care Preparedness

open access: yesTelemedicine Reports
Introduction: Telemedicine, particularly remote monitoring, offers a promising approach to enhance health care. This study evaluated the impact of the Operations Center for Discharged Patients (COD19) telemonitoring service on COVID-19 patient mortality ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Vitamin A concentration in bovine liver and milk does not only depend on characteristics of the farming system

open access: yesnpj Science of Food
The study examined the vitamin A status in commercially managed suckler cows and lactating dairy cows and identified primary influencing factors. Liver retinyl ester concentrations were higher in multiparous than primiparous cows (p

Release of Hypoglycin A from Hypoglycin B and Decrease of Hypoglycin A and Methylene Cyclopropyl Glycine Concentrations in Ruminal Fluid Batch Cultures

open access: yesToxins
The transformation of hypoglycin A (HGA), hypoglycin B (HGB), and methylene cyclopropyl glycine (MCPrG) in ruminal fluid batch cultures was investigated, and the effect of these toxins on the batch culture microorganisms using microbial metabolites was ...

Loss of AMBRA1 activates MAPK and angiogenesis signaling pathways in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Loss of AMBRA1 in melanoma cells activates multiple oncogenic pathways associated with tumor progression. Transcriptomic and protein network analyses revealed that AMBRA1 depletion enhances MAPK/ERK signaling, angiogenesis, TGF‐β/EMT signaling, and Wnt/axon guidance pathways.

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Alleviating Effect and Mechanism of Ginsenosides on Type 2 Diabetic Liver Lesions [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and relative insulin deficiency. As the disease progresses, type 2 diabetes often develop pathological changes in the liver such as inflammatory edema, fatty degeneration and ...
