Sleep‐trackers in the wild: A faceted taxonomy for information and interaction design

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Consumer‐grade sleep‐tracking technologies (CSTs) have brought sleep into everyday data practices, reframing it from a clinical concern into a site of personal optimization and reflection. Yet existing taxonomies of sleep‐tracking often medicalize users and overlook the complexity of sleep‐tracking technologies. This paper presents SleepTax, a

Synergistic Enhancement of Antioxidant Activity in Arbutus unedo Leaf Extract by Biological Fluids: Implications for Functional and Nutraceutical Applications

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examined the effect of biological fluids (saliva, blood plasma, and urine) on the antioxidant capacity of an aqueous extract derived from Arbutus unedo leaves. The extract displayed a concentration‐dependent reducing activity in the ferric reducing power assay (IC50 = 292 ± 7.54 µg/mL) and phosphomolybdenum assays (IC50 = 461.67 ± 4.

Maternal Productivity in Beef Cattle: The impact on the female herd of genetic selection for a divergence in fatness or feed efficiency

open access: yes, 2010
Beef cows, particularly as part of seed stock and cow/calf enterprises, are farmed extensively in temperate environments in southern Australia. The fundamental premise of a productive beef enterprise is a calving interval of 365 days. However, production

Emerging research directions in nanoparticle‐based foam control for bioprocessing: a bibliometric approach

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Overfoaming remains a critical challenge in industrial bioprocesses, compromising mass transfer, operational stability, and downstream efficiency in bioreactors and wastewater treatment systems. This study provides a bibliometric and scientometric assessment of nanoparticle‐enabled foam control to map technological trends and identify research

Limitations to using phloem sap to assess tree water and nutrient status

open access: yes, 2018
Rapid, reliable tools are needed to infer physiological and nutritional health for managing forest systems. Understanding the processes governing tree health is central to the development of these tools.

A method for modeling growth of organs and transplants based on the general growth law: application to the liver in dogs and humans.

open access: yes, 2014
Understanding biological phenomena requires a systemic approach that incorporates different mechanisms acting on different spatial and temporal scales, since in organisms the workings of all components, such as organelles, cells, and organs interrelate ...

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.
