Vanillin and o-vanillin oligomers as models for dendrimer disassembly

New J. Chem., 2012
Linear analogs have been synthesized to model disassembling dendrimers. These linear analogs provide a facile synthesis to molecules that can be used to test new trigger groups and cleavage vectors. Vanillin and o-vanillin were used as the monomer units of these analogs and two trigger groups, allyl and o-nitrobenzyl, were chosen to test the ...

Inhibition of induction of adaptive response by o-vanillin in Escherichia coli B

Mutation Research Letters, 1990
Mutations induced by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) were strongly enhanced in the presence of o-vanillin in E. coli B. The enhancement was also observed in uvrA, umuC, recA, polA, or alkB mutants. This effect was lower in an alkA mutant, but was restored in an alkA umuC double mutant. By contrast, the enhancing effect was almost blocked in

A specific inhibition of induction of adaptive response by o-vanillin, a potent comutagen

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1989
The present study revealed that potent comutagenic activity of o-vanillin in mutagenesis by N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) is a consequence of inhibition of the transcriptional promoting capacity of methylated O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGTase).

o-Vanillin enhances bone health and fracture healing by inhibiting cellular senescence in aging mice.

Bone
Aging is associated with skeletal fragility driven by impaired bone remodeling, increased oxidative stress, and the accumulation of senescent cells. To determine whether ortho-vanillin (o-Vanillin) can alleviate age-related deficits in bone, we examined ...

In Situ Coordination-Catalyzed o-Vanillin Underwent a One-Pot Tandem Reaction to Construct Complex Chiral Tetrameric Isomer-Based Hexanuclear Clusters.

Inorganic Chemistry
In this work, Dy(NO3)3·6H2O and o-vanillin reacted under "one-pot" conditions, achieving for the first time four efficient condensations of o-vanillin and obtaining a pair of chiral hexanuclear clusters R/S-Dy6.

A Tetranuclear Nickel(II) Cubane Complex with O-Vanillin Ligand

Journal of Chemical Crystallography, 2010
A novel cubane complex with formula of [Ni(μ3-OCH3)L(CH3OH)]4 (1) has been successfully assembled by using o-vanillin as multidentate ligand. Each Ni(II) ion is six coordinate, being bound to four oxygen atoms from four methanol molecules, one phenoxido oxygen atom and one aldehyde oxygen atom from the o-vanillin ligand.

Measurement and correlation of solubility of o-vanillin in different pure and binary solvents at temperatures from 273.15 K to 303.15 K

Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2020
The equilibrium solubility is the basis for purification and further theoretical studies of o-vanillin. In this paper, the solubility data of o-vanillin in three pure solvents, including water, ethanol, n-propanol, and two binary solvents of water ...
