Revisiting Amplitude of Low‐Frequency Fluctuations (ALFF) in Resting‐State fMRI: Clarifications and Improvements

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 5, 1 April 2026.
We provide a mathematical clarification of ALFF and fALFF by introducing two variants: the arithmetic mean‐defined and the quadratic mean‐defined to clarify the inconsistencies in the definition and implementation of (f)ALFF. ABSTRACT The amplitude of low‐frequency fluctuations (ALFF) and its related measure, fractional ALFF (fALFF), are widely used ...

Dynamic Alterations of Functional Systems in Alzheimer's Disease: A Co‐Activation Pattern Analysis

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 5, 1 April 2026.
State 3 exhibited significantly reduced persistence and resilience in both MCI and AD compared to CU. Individuals with MCI and AD showed reduced transition probability from State 2 to State 5 and decreased self‐transitions in State 3. Graph theoretical results corresponded well to the findings of the above CAP analysis.

Relational Healing: Survivors of Sex Trafficking and Their Experiences of Connection, Disconnection, and Growth

open access: yesJournal of Counseling &Development, Volume 104, Issue 2, Page 280-292, April 2026.
ABSTRACT In this interpretive phenomenological analysis, we interviewed 10 women to make meaning of their lived experiences of sex trafficking and mental health challenges and how relational dynamics influenced their healing and sense of self. Our analysis revealed four themes: (a) central relational paradox, which described internalized shame and ...

Rethinking Collinearity in Self‐Organizing Maps: Evidence From Geophysical Data Classification

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract This study examines the impact of collinearity on unsupervised machine learning algorithms (UMLAs), specifically Self‐Organizing Maps (SOMs), for detecting lithological boundaries in geophysical data. Using a multi‐scale experimental framework that includes bivariate isotropic clusters, geologically complex Noddy simulations, and real‐world ...

Is Medicare Home Health Care Utilization Substituting for Long‐Term Care? Evidence From Dual Eligible Beneficiaries

open access: yesHealth Services Research, Volume 61, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the plausibly causal effect of Medicaid home‐ and community‐based services (HCBS) use on Medicare community‐initiated home health care (CIHHC) utilization among dual‐eligible older adults and to provide evidence on whether access to home‐based long‐term care (LTC) reduces use of Medicare home health care, with potential ...
