Immunomodulatory role of an Ayurvedic formulation on imbalanced immune-metabolics during inflammatory responses of obesity and pre-diabetic disease [PDF]
Obesity and related type 2 diabetes are associated with a low level chronic inflammatory state with disease status increasing at epidemic proportions worldwide. It is now universally accepted that the underlying immune-inflammatory responses mediated within the adipose tissue in obesity are central to the development of disease. Once initiated, chronic

USP42 is identified as a novel DUB of PPARγ in hepatocytes. USP42 mediated PPARγ deubiquitylation determines its transcriptional preference on proliferative and redox balance genes. USP42 knockdown exacerbates liver damage and delays regeneration. FGF2 is the upstream signal that initiates and activates the USP42‐PPARγ axis.

This study uses gut microbiome data to predict corticosteroid response in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Fecal samples from 212 patients with ITP are sequenced. Six machine‐learning algorithms are used to train predictive models. The support vector machine‐based model integrated clinical data and selected microbial species, diversities ...

Crowdsourcing Health Labels: Inferring Body Weight from Profile Pictures [PDF]
To use social media for health-related analysis, one key step is the detection of health-related labels for users. But unlike transient conditions like flu, social media users are less vocal about chronic conditions such as obesity, as users might not tweet "I'm still overweight". As, however, obesity-related conditions such as diabetes, heart disease,

Gut Microbiota‐Butyrate‐PPARγ Axis Modulates Adipose Regulatory T Cell Population
This study identifies the indispensable role of gut microbiota in the maintenance of ST2+ adipose Treg cell population, and defines gut microbiota‐derived butyrate as an endogenous PPARγ agonist, modulating adipose Treg cell populations via promoting PPARγ activation. Butyrate or fiber supplementation restores the VAT ST2+ Treg population in obese mice
