Precision prediction of cutting force in oblique cutting operation
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2015This paper presented a general model for predicting the cutting forces in oblique cutting operation with respect to vector transformation derived from orthogonal cutting process. The developed model is based on that the fundamental mechanics of the friction relationship between tool and material (chip) at the primary and secondary shear zones are the ...

A new approach to the modeling of oblique cutting processes
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2009A new upper-bound model that incorporates force equilibrium parallel to the cutting edge is proposed for oblique cutting operations. The energy approach is framed in terms of the normal shear angle and two new fundamental variables that characterize the energy requirements of the oblique cutting process.

Modeling of cutting forces in end milling based on oblique cutting analysis
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2015A force model is presented to predict cutting forces in end milling. The helical end mill geometry model is established containing the cutting velocities and the cutting forces during the cutting process, which considers the pitch angle and the helix angle of each flute.

Document segmentation via oblique cuts
SPIE Proceedings, 2013This paper presents a novel solution for the layout segmentation of graphical elements in Business Intelligence documents. We propose a generalization of the recursive X-Y cut algorithm, which allows for cutting along arbitrary oblique directions. An intermediate processing step consisting of line and solid region removal is also necessary due to ...

A study of an oblique cutting model
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1999Abstract The finite deformation theory and the updated Lagrangian formulation (ULF) were used to describe the oblique cutting process in an attempt to develop an oblique cutting elastic–plastic finite-element analytical model. In this paper, an elastic–plastic stiffness matrix equation was first derived.
