Construction of a dynamic cutting force model for oblique cutting

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2009
This work presents a dynamic cutting force model of oblique cutting by considering the oblique cutting operation, the relationship among cutting angles, the effects of wave removal and wave cutting on the fluctuation of shear angle, the variation of the instantaneous uncut chip thickness, and the variation of the chip flow angle.

On Oblique Cutting of Cellular Elastic materials

International Journal of Fracture, 1998
It is shown that the previously developed model for the direct cutting of cellular plane allows to investigate also the more general case of 3D oblique cutting after replacing the coefficient of friction at the cutter faces by its effective value. The numerical results illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of the oblique cutting regime.

Equilibrium problem of a plate with an oblique cut

Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 1998
The nonpenetration condition for a plate with an oblique cut is proposed. The variational formulation of the equilibrium problem and the equivalent formulation in the form of a boundaryvalue problem are obtained. The analytical solution is given for a one-dimensional case (a beam with a cut), and the qualitative properties of this solution are studied.

Study and analysis of cutting forces on oblique cutting of wood

Journal of Northeast Forestry University, 1991
Obilque cutting of wood is an important form of cutting wood. With the developing of woodworking industry, it is widely used in wood machinary processing such as planing, milling, sawing, drilling and so on. This paper takes oblique planing and helix milling of wood as examples.

Oblique machining with a single cutting edge

International Journal of Machine Tool Design and Research, 1964
Abstract The problem of defining the rake angle which controls the cutting process in oblique machining is considered. Experimental results are presented from which it is concluded that the rake angle normal to the cutting edge is of greatest significance.

Hybrid Modelling and Optimization of the Oblique Cutting of AISI 1045 Steel

International Journal of Manufacturing, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering, 2018
Optimization is a very important issue in mechanical industry, especially in machining processes, where different aspects must be considered. Thus, selecting the most proper cutting conditions plays a key role for obtaining efficient and competitive ...

Analysis of Oblique Cutting Forces

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1967
This paper is the latest of a continuing series on the subject of self-excited machine tool chatter. The representation of the metal cutting process as required by the previously developed closed-loop chatter theory is extended to oblique cutting with tools of practical shape and geometry.

Mechanics of cutting model for simulated oblique rotary tool cutting processes

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1991
Abstract Rotary tool cutting processes are described and simulated as ‘orthogonal’ and ‘oblique’. A modified thin shear zone mechanics of cutting model for driven and self-propelled ‘oblique’ rotary cutting tool processes are developed and experimentally verified, qualitatively and quantitatively over a wide range of process variables.

Oblique ulnar shortening osteotomy by a single saw cut

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1996
Ulnar shortening osteotomy is an effective treatment in patients with ulnar impaction syndrome. Accurate shortening and bony apposition can be obtained for a wide range of shortening lengths with a single-cut osteotomy technique. The saw kef produced by a single saw pass cuts a bony defect with parallel walls. The amount of shortening produced by using

The edge force components in oblique cutting

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1990
Abstract It is shown that in an oblique cutting operation two of the edge force components can be derived on the basis of the hypotheses: (a) that there exists an equivalent orthogonal cutting operation which is such that the depth of the layer of workpiece material which is extruded below the cutting edge in oblique cutting, h , is equal to that ...
