Epistemological Problems of Quantum Mechanics Following Ernst Cassirer and Richard Hönigswald

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Philosophy
This article deals with the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics and its epistemological discussion by Ernst Cassirer and Richard Hönigswald. The starting point is Cassirer's treatise Determinism and Indeterminism in Modern Physics, published ...

Statins induce monocytic differentiation in acute myeloid leukemia cells through the KLF4/DPYSL2A axis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Statins, identified via the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database, promote monocytic differentiation and apoptosis in non‐APL AML cells by upregulating DPYSL2A through a KLF4‐dependent pathway. Mevalonate supplementation reversed these effects, indicating involvement of the mevalonate pathway.

Consciousness in the Universe

open access: yesPensamiento. Revista de Investigación e Información Filosófica, 2013
So far we can identify at least three concepts within modern cosmology that bring into debate the question of consciousness in the universe: 1) Fine Tuning; 2) The Anthropic Principle and 3) The Multiverse.

Transcriptional regulation of neuropeptide receptors underlies context‐dependent adaptation in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...

Observable currents and a covariant Poisson algebra of physical observables

open access: yes, 2017
Observable currents are locally defined gauge invariant conserved currents; physical observables may be calculated integrating them on appropriate hypersurfaces. Due to the conservation law the hypersurfaces become irrelevant up to homology, and the main objects of interest become the observable currents them selves. Gauge inequivalent solutions can be

A unified model for Duchenne muscular dystrophy gene involvement in cancer: context‐dependent tumour suppression and oncogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We propose a context‐dependent model where the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) gene acts as a tumour suppressor in aggressive tumours and as an oncogene in less aggressive ones. We propose this model as a unified framework to explain the opposing survival associations with DMD expression and to guide experimental exploration of the dual role of DMD ...

Steady States, Thermal Physics, and Holography

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2019
It is well known that a Rindler observer measures a nontrivial energy flux, resulting in a thermal description in an otherwise Minkowski vacuum. For systems consisting of large number of degrees of freedom, it is natural to isolate a small subset of them
