Octacalcium Phosphate–Precipitated Alginate Scaffold for Bone Regeneration
Tissue Engineering Part A, 2009The present study was designed to investigate whether octacalcium phosphate (OCP)-precipitated alginate (Alg) promotes osteoblastic cell proliferation and bone regeneration in comparison with Alg itself. Alg, known to lack mammal cell attachment capability, was used as the matrix to test the distribution effect of OCP in a three-dimensional environment.

Octacalcium phosphate suppresses chondrogenic differentiation of ATDC5 cells
Cell and Tissue Research, 2012Implantation of octacalcium phosphate (OCP), a hydroxyapatite precursor, has been reported to induce chondrogenesis in vivo. In this study, we examined the effects of OCP on the chondrogenic differentiation of mouse chondroblastic ATDC5 cells in vitro.

Enantioselective incorporation of dicarboxylate guests by octacalcium phosphate
Chemical Communications, 2017We have investigated the effects of guest molecule chirality on incorporation into octacalcium phosphate (OCP). OCP incorporates (S)-(−)-methylsuccinic acid (MeSuc), while no significant amount of (R)-(+)-MeSuc is incorporated. This enantioselectivity clearly indicates that OCP recognizes the steric structures of guest molecules.

The growth of octacalcium phosphate on beta tricalcium phosphate
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1983The crystallization of calcium phosphate phases from metastable supersaturated solutions following seeding with well characterized tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) solid has been studied at 37°C, using the constant composition method. The results confirm that at a pH of 6.00, it is impossible to precipitate β-TCP at ambient temperatures.

Implanted octacalcium phosphate is more resorbable than β-tricalcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 2001AbstractOur previous studies have suggested that synthetic octacalcium phosphate (OCP) could be resorbed and replaced by newly formed bone if implanted in rat skull defects. We hypothesized that the implanted OCP is more resorbable than other commonly used bone graft substitutes of calcium phosphate compounds, such as hydroxyapatite (HA) and β ...

Highly porous bioceramics based on octacalcium phosphate
Inorganic Materials: Applied Research, 2017The method of obtaining highly porous ceramics by chemical transformation of ceramics based on α-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) to dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) followed by hydrolysis to octacalcium (OCP) phosphate was explored. This method provides an opportunity to get monophase OCP as well as biphasic calcium phosphate with a different ratio of α-

Revealing Atomic Structure of Hybrid Octacalcium-Phosphate Derivative
Inorganic ChemistryOctacalcium phosphate (OCP), which is one of the bioactive calcium phosphates, can incorporate various organic molecules in its crystal lattice, forming the organic-inorganic hybrid derivatives. However, detailed atomic arrangements of OCP hybridized with organic molecules such as dicarboxylate are still unknown, although many years have passed since ...

Apatite formation from octacalcium phosphate with fluoride
2010This chapter focuses on the interaction between octacalcium phosphate (OCP) and fluoride. Synthetic OCP was incubated in 150 mM Tris buffer in the presence of fluoride at neutral pH and 37°C. Then, the effects of the fluoride ion concentrations on the process of OCP–HA conversion were investigated.
