Genome and transcriptome‐based identification and expression profiling of chemosensory gene families across developmental stages and tissues in Sirex noctilio (Hymenoptera: Siricidae)

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 270-283, June 2026.
The first draft genome of Sirex noctilio was produced. Fifteen S. noctilio transcriptomes were sequenced to study chemosensory gene expression patterns. SnocOR16 and SnocSNMP1 displayed tissue‐ and sex‐specific expression patterns. Abstract The Sirex woodwasp (Sirex noctilio; Hymenoptera: Siricidae) is among the most destructive invasive pests ...

The Olfactory Nervous System Of Terrestrial And Aquatic Vertebrates

open access: yes, 2011
Animals in their natural milieu are surrounded by odors. These odors are rich source of information, and are perceived by sophisticated olfactory systems, that have evolved over time.

Eating Experiences of Patients With Cancer in the Hospital – A Qualitative Study

open access: yesJournal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Enjoying food is related to the taste, smell and texture of food, ambience during meals, presentation of the meals, and freedom to choose meals. A decrease in food enjoyment can lead to decreased food intake, undesired weight loss, and reduced quality of life. Cancer and cancer treatment can induce symptoms that affect food

Phylogenetic history shapes the composition of floral scents in a specialized pollination mutualism

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 3428-3443, June 2026.
Summary Most studies of the chemical ecology of plant–pollinator interactions emphasize the role of pollinator‐mediated selection in shaping floral scent composition. Nevertheless, phylogeny may constrain the metabolic pathways underlying these profiles, thereby influencing the evolutionary trajectory of the emitted signals.

Differential expression of odorant receptor mRNA in rat tissues

open access: yes, 2003
Odorant receptors are a multigene family encoding seven-transmembrane-domain receptors and belong to the superfamily of G-protein coupled receptors. Approximately 1000 different odorant receptors are thought to exist within the rat olfactory epithelium ...
